The Woodshop Gallery is located 13 miles North of Hilo, located in the old plantation town of Honomu. Two miles further on is the Akaka Falls State park, home to the largest waterfall on the Big Island of Hawaii. As you drive through the old town, the wooden board walk and colorful store fronts are reminiscence of days gone by when it was once a thriving Sugar plantation town. Today the population is approximately 560 people, many of them are from grandparents who immigrated to Hawaii to work in the cane fields. For 21 years the Woodshop Gallery has been in the same location along with its small restaurant famous for its fish burgers and plate lunch meals, a popular stop to relax and have a meal after a hike around the Akaka Falls trail! The Woodshop Gallery showcases many of the Islands top Artists and wood turners. Translucent Norfolk pine bowls, Blown Glass. Ceramics and beautiful Koa furniture are all on display along with many other interesting gifts. Hours of Business are 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM every day all year round. Closed Xmas Day only.

McLaren Woodworks
Woodshop Gallery has been carrying fine wooden crafts and Koa wood furniture from McLaren Woodworks for the past 20 years. A popular item has been the rocking chairs kits made from Curly Koa or Mango wood. Over one hundred kits have been sold over the last fifteen years and the orders still keep coming in. A great way to own an heirloom piece of furniture, that you have put together yourself. Our latest addition to the Gallery is a “Maloof” inspired rocking chair.
